ABOUT Our Program

Our Program:

Our clinic offers an innovative approach to weight management, with the goal of improving not only quality of life and mobility for our patients, but also reducing perioperative risks. Our program is not a fad diet, a meal planning service or an exercise plan. Instead, it is a medical approach to the chronic disease of obesity. We understand that nobody chooses to live in discomfort and we are passionate about reducing the stigma associated with living in a larger body.

All visits with a member of our team are covered by OHIP. Our program involves the prescribing of medications that may or may not be covered by your insurance plan or your provincial health insurance coverage. However, we will do everything within our ability to assist you to obtain coverage for these mediations. Our clinic offers a convenient hybrid model with options for both in-person or secure virtual appointments with the doctor.

We look forward to helping you improve your health so you can get more out of life!

Obesity is not a lifestyle choice; it's a chronic hormonal and genetic disease.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Watkins Metabolic Clinic?

Our clinic is located within the KOPI (Kingston Orthopedic Pain Institute) campus which is located at 800 John Marks Avenue, just off Highway 15 in Kingston. When you arrive, please check in with the staff at the lobby desk on the main level. They will direct you to clinic office.

Do You Offer Telephone Appointments?

No, we don't offer telephone appointments. However, virtual appointments are available through Microsoft Teams. You can connect via a browser on your computer/laptop. If you want to connect on your mobile device, you must download and install the Teams app. Please refer to the 'For Patients' section of our website for more information about connecting to Teams.

How do I get a referral?

Because demand for our clinic services currently exceeds our capacity to deliver quality care to all patients being referred to the clinic, Watkins Metabolic is only accepting internal referrals from the KOPI clinic. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your interest in our clinic.
